Avon values education and is proud to support students whose dedication to excellence and community involvement reflect the very principles of Avon. More than 129 people have been awarded Avon Scholarships since 1964. The Avon Scholarship is awarded annually to one student from each of the two school boards in Montréal’s West Island – Lester B. Pearson and Marguerite-Bourgeoys – as well as to one child of an Avon employee. Each scholarship covers up to four years of tuition, to a maximum of $16,000, at any accredited Canadian degree-granting institution, in addition to $300 per year for the purchase of books. A $500 grant-in-aid is also awarded to the high schools that the recipients graduate from. A panel of judges selects winners from a group of students selected from each of the boards. Selection is based on biographical information provided by the individual, a personal interview, and secondary school records, ratings and recommendations from members of the school.
