In 2009, Avon Canada launched Paint it Pink! An awareness campaign that invited Canadians to share their expressions of pink via images uploaded onto the paintitpinkcanada.com website. Participants could then nominate a local breast cancer charity of their choice to be considered for funding. Over 2,000 photos were submitted and close to 35 charities have since benefited from Avon Canada’s Paint it Pink funds, including support services, dragonboat teams, cancer wellness centres and local hospitals alike.
In 2008, the “Call for the Cure” campaign was launched. This unique initiative invited the general public to dial a special number that would automatically add $2 to the caller’s phone bill as a direct donation to the Avon breast cancer Crusade.
In fall of 2006, Avon Representatives planted 140,000 pink tulip bulbs in public gardens during “Tulip Tribute” events to symbolize life, charity and hope. Follow-up events continued to take place in 2007 when the pink tulips were in full bloom.
In 2003, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Avon Crusade, Avon Canada published “Reasons for Hope,” a collection of personal stories by Canadians sharing how breast cancer has touched their lives. All net profits from the sale of the book went to the CBCRA (Canadian Breast Cancer Research Alliance).
In 2001, the Avon Flame pink ribbon Crusade bear raised $1.5 million – making it the most successful Crusade fundraising product to date.
In 2000, Avon Canada set the goal of raising $1 million in one day to raise awareness of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.
